Hirske

Hirske (Ukrainian Гірське; Russian Горское / Gorskoje ) is a small town in the Luhansk Oblast in eastern Ukraine. It has around 10,500 inhabitants (2013 ) and belongs administratively to the city Perwomajsk.

Geography

The city in eastern Ukraine is located in the Luhansk Oblast in 64 kilometers from the Oblasthauptstadt Luhansk. The city has an area of ​​14.44 km ² and is located less forests at the mouth of the river Belenkaj in the Donets on its right bank.

Hirske has bus connections to the cities of Luhansk, Sjewjerodonezk, Lysychansk and Perwomajsk. There is also a train and a railway station.

Population

In the city lived 2001 5.571 Russians, 2,108 Ukrainians, 3,001 White Russians and Tartars, 900. The majority of the inhabitants of Hirske is Russian Orthodox, but also a few hundred Muslims live in the city, mainly Tartars. Always the Russians were the largest ethnic group in Hirske.
