Introspective

Introspective is the third studio album by the Pet Shop Boys. It was released in October 1988 and is considered the second most sold album of the band. It reached number 3 in Germany and in the UK # 2 on the charts.

History

On Introspective published the Pet Shop Boys, in contrast to previous albums, fairly long pieces with a length of six to nine minutes. However, the single releases on the album were shorter and more radio -friendly mixes of the songs. Only two pieces were written directly for the album: Left to My Own Devices and Domino Dancing. Always on My Mind and It's Alright are cover versions, I Want a Dog appeared as early as the B - side of the single pension, I'm Not Scared is the own version of the Pet Shop Boys, a song that they had written for Patsy Kensits pop band Eighth Wonder. On the album worked Tennant and Lowe with just located in fashionable stylistic means; so they used Latin and house loans.

Reception

Stephen Thomas Erlewine wrote in his four- star review in Allmusic: "Nevertheless, the mixes are more compelling than the remixes on Disco, and the songs include several of their best numbers ... "

Title list

Four of the six tracks on the album were written by Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe. Always on My Mind was written by Johnny Christopher, Mark James and Wayne Carson Thompson, It's alright by the American house DJ Sterling Void.
