Please (Pet Shop Boys album)

Please ( German: please ) is the debut album by the Pet Shop Boys, released in March 1986 and was successfully sold in many countries.

History

The title is based on the demand from buyers after the album: " Can I have the Pet Shop Boys album, please? " (Could I have the Pet Shop Boys album reviews). The album has sold over 3 million times. Unlike later albums, it is kept simple musically. As with other albums of the Pet Shop Boys also partly androgynous texts about homosexual and heterosexual relationships are included.

The photo on the album cover was also found in some albums of the 1980s again (eg Hounds of Love by Kate Bush and The Gift of Midge Ure ). In the original, the size of the photo is 35 millimeters.

Rumors that for the bonus track Two Divided by Zero samples were used from a handheld device called Speak & Spell by Texas Instruments, Neil Tennant denied as part of a BBC report; derived according to him the samples of a calculator with speech output. Liza Minnelli coverte the bonus track Tonight is Forever for her album Result.
