John Buckley (bishop)

John Buckley ( born November 2, 1939 in Inchigela, County Cork) is a Roman Catholic bishop in Ireland.

Life

After leaving school, Buckley studied Roman Catholic theology at St. Patrick's College, Maynooth. On June 20, 1965 Buckley was ordained a priest. After that, he taught at St. Finbarrs College in Farranferris, whose president he became later. 1984 Buckley was appointed auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Cork and Ross and Titular Bishop of Leptis Magna and consecrated by Michael Murphy. On 19 December 1997, Buckley Bishop of Cork and Ross.
