John McAreavey

John McAreavey ( born February 2, 1949 in Banbridge, County Down ) is a Irish, Roman Catholic bishop.

Life

After school McAreavey studied Catholic theology and modern languages ​​at St Patrick's Colleg in Maynooth, where he each the bachelor 1969 and 1972 reached. On June 10, 1973 he was ordained a Catholic priest by Bishop Eugene O'Doherty. As a post- graduate student, he studied from 1974 to 1978 Roman Catholic canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University, where he attained a doctorate in 1978. After his return from Rome, he taught at St. Colman 's College. 1988 McAreavey was appointed professor of Canon Law at St Patrick's Colleg in Maynooth. McAreavey was ordained on September 19, 1999 by Seán Baptist Brady as Bishop of the Diocese of Dromore in Ireland.
