Kagoshima

Kagoshima (Japanese鹿 児 岛 市, -shi, in German also Kagoshima ) is a Japanese port city on the southwestern tip of the island of Kyūshū. It is the administrative center of Kagoshima Prefecture.

The city is dominated by the food, porcelain and textile industry. Nearby is the Uchinoura Space Center. The city has, however, at a considerable distance, the Kagoshima airport.

Geography

The city is located mainly on the west bank ( Satsuma Peninsula), the 70-km deep in the island of Kagoshima Bay (鹿 児 岛 湾, Kagoshima - wan), in the center, just east of the city center, the active volcano Sakura -jima is located. You can also find parts of the city at its foot. The city suffers, as the entire environment, under constant emission of volcanic ash.
