La Sauve

La Sauve is a commune in the Gironde department in the region of Aquitaine. The municipality is located in the catchment area of the city of Bordeaux. While La Sauve in 1962 still had 793 inhabitants, is one you currently 1426 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

The municipality belongs to the canton in the Arrondissement Bordeaux Creon.

La Sauve is part of the Entre -Deux- Mers region.

Attractions

On a hill above the village are the ruins of the Abbey of La Sauve -Majeure, which gave the place its name. They are, together with the parish church of Saint -Pierre, awarded since 1998 as part of the World Heritage Site by UNESCO " Camino de Santiago in France."
