Lawrence County is a county located in the state of South Dakota in the United States. The the county seat ( county seat ) is located in Deadwood. In 2000, there were 21,802 people in the county.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Lawrence County covers an area of 2073 square kilometers, of which is 1 square kilometer ( 0.03 percent) of water. The district consists of a Township: St. Onge and two unorganized territories: North Lawrence and South Lawrence. It is bordered clockwise to the counties: Butte County, Meade County, Pennington County, Weston County ( Wyoming) and Crook County ( Wyoming).
