History

Although the skiing was not invented in Switzerland, the skiing in Switzerland prevailed quickly, especially because of the numerous winter tourists. St. Moritz describes itself as the birthplace of winter tourism and sports in the Alps (1864 /65) and founded in 1929 the first Swiss Ski School.

Winter is of great importance for the Swiss tourism. Climate change and the hard competition, however, lead to the fact that the banks and the state basically no more investment in facilities for ski resorts below 1,500 meters above sea level.
