Marie Braun

Marie " Zus " Philipsen -Braun ( born June 22, 1911 in Rotterdam, † June 23, 1982 in Gouda) was a Dutch swimmer.

At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928 she became Olympic champion over 100 meters backstroke and won the silver medal in the 400 meters freestyle. It belonged in the twenties of the best European swimmers and 1927 European champion over 400 meters freestyle and 1931 European champion over 100 meters backstroke and the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay.

Overall, she set six world records and four European records in their careers. In 1980, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
