Milhosť

Milhosť ( until 1948 slovak " Migléc "; Hungarian Migléc, older even Miglécnémeti ) is a city and a municipality in eastern Slovakia, with a population of 385 (as at 31 December 2011). It is located in Okres Košice - okolie kraj part of Košice.

Geography

Milhosť located in the south of the basin Košická kotlina on the Hungarian border on the right bank of the creek Sokoliansky Potok, 22 kilometers to the south of Kosice.

History

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1220 and was populated by German settlers on land. At first the place was no separate municipality, but part of the medieval village Középnémeti. Since the 16th century, the proportion of Germans steadily decreased and since then the population between the Hungarians and the Slovaks is divided.

Until 1918, the in- county Abaúj- Torna place belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia. On the basis of the First Vienna Award, it was 1938-45 again in Hungary.

In 1964, close to the places Kechnec and Milhosť community called Hraničná pri Hornáde together, which was incorporated into the municipality Seňa 1986. 1993 Milhosť hived off from Seňa and has since again an independent municipality.
