Oliver MacDonald

Joseph Oliver MacDonald ( born February 20, 1904 in Patterson, New Jersey; † October 21, 1973 in Flemington, New Jersey) was an American athlete who was active as a sprinter in the early 1920s.

In the VIII Summer Olympics in Paris in 1924 he was a member of the 4 × 400 m relay, which in the cast Commodore Cochran, Alan Helffrich, Oliver MacDonald large as 3 runners and William Stevenson in the world record time of 3:16, 0 minutes distance ahead of Sweden and Great Britain won the gold medal.

Among those attending the AAU championships in those years his name appears only once: in 1925 he was about 220 yards second behind Jackson Scholz.

After graduating (1927 ) from the University of Pennsylvania Dental School MacDonald opened dental offices in Patterson and Haledon. In 1959 he continued in this capacity and was Realtor. He also was the first assessor of Consumer Affairs in the City Council of Flemington.
