Piaggio P.148

The Piaggio P.148 was a trainer aircraft of the Italian manufacturer Piaggio Aero Industries.

History and construction

The P.148 is a two-seat all-metal low-wing cantilever fixed spur wheel chassis. Teachers and students sit under the two-part canopy side by side, the installation of a third seat is possible. The prototype first flew on 12 February 1951. After extensive testing by the Italian Air Force, she was appointed as a beginner trainer aircraft. A four-seat development is the Piaggio P.149. The machine was used by the Italian Air Force until 1970, when the training of Air Force pilots was changed. Some machines were then sold to the Somali Air Force.
