Pragelato

Pragelato ( Occitan Pratjalat, Pragelà Piedmontese ) is a comune in the Italian province of Turin (TO ), Region Piedmont.

The municipality comprises the villages of La Ruà, Alleve, Chezal, Duc, Grand Puy, Granges, Jousseaud, Laval, Pattemouche, plan, Rif, Rivets, Seytes, Troncea, Souchères bass, Souchère Haute, Traverses, Villardamond, Val Tronche and Tronchée. The neighboring municipalities are Exilles, Oulx, Salbertrand, Usseaux Fenestrelle, Sauze d' Oulx, Massello, Sestriere, Sauze di Cesana, Salza di Pinerolo and Prali.

Geography

The place is located about 82 km from the provincial capital of Turin at an altitude of 1,518 m above sea level in the upper part of the Val Chisone. The municipality covers an area of 88 km ².

Economy

The main occupation of the inhabitants of the municipality is tourism, with both skiers and hikers are addressed in the summer months. Agriculture plays a minor role, mentioned here is the production of honey. Traditionally, the cattle breeding in the area.

Sports

During the 2006 Winter Olympics here were the competitions held in the Nordic skiing disciplines.

Community partnership

Pragelato maintains a partnership with the Hessian town of Ober-Ramstadt ( Germany ).
