Ralingen

Ralingen is a municipality in the district of Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate -Saar castle. It belongs to the municipality Trier -Land. Ralingen is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography

Location

Ralingen is between Trier and Bitburg in Sauer directly on the Luxembourg border. On the opposite side of the Sauer is the Luxembourg community Rosport.

History

On March 17, 1974, the four previously independent municipalities Enghien, Kersch, Olk and winter village were incorporated to Ralingen. The community Enghien was re-formed on June 1, 1972 from the dissolved municipalities Enghien and Godendorf.

Traffic

The winter village districts, Ralingen, Godendorf and Enghien are all located at the Sauertalstrecke B 418 from Trier to Echternach. The district Olk is located near the B51 between Trier and Bitburg. The district Kersch is a bit more remote from Olk and winter village. There is a regular bus service through the Moselbahn mbH in the traffic group Region Trier ( VRT) to all districts.

Ralingen, winter village and Enghien were stations of the so-called Nim -Sauer Valley Railway, a branch line from the Eifel track which led from Erdorf over Bitburg, Wolsfeld and Irrel since 1915 according to hedgehog. This route has already been shut down in 1968/69 and soon after demolished. On the route is today largely the Sauer Valley Bike Trail.

Education
