Sorel Royaux

The Royaux de Sorel ( Sorel Royaux English ) was a Canadian ice hockey team from Sorel - Tracy, Quebec. The team played from 1996 to 2004 in the Quebec Semi-Pro Hockey League.

History

The team was founded in 1996 as a franchise of this year inaugural Quebec Semi-Pro Hockey League. In this they missed in their first three seasons as a third or fourth of their division each a place in the playoffs for the Coupe Futura. After the team was sold in 1999 and renamed Royaux de Sorel, she played five more seasons in the long QSPHL. The biggest success for the team was to reach the second playoff round in the 2001/ 02 season, but the trophy never could win it. Following the 2003/ 04 season, the franchise was disbanded due to financial problems.

The gap left by the dissolution of the Royaux de Sorel in the city, was filled by the establishment of the Mission de Sorel - Tracy in 2004.
