Šošůvka

Šošůvka ( German Schoschuwka ) is a municipality with 737 inhabitants in the Czech Republic. It is located in the Moravian Karst, 8 km east of Rájec- Jestřebí and belongs to the Okres Blansko on.

The village is situated in 550 m altitude on the plateau between Sloupsko Holštejn whose highest point is the east of the village located Helišova skala. Toward Sloupsko located inside this karst area, the cave system in the Sloupsko - šošůvské jeskyně. The well-known Šošůvská jeskyně ( Schoschuwkahöhle ) is part of and is located 1.5 km south-west in the dry valley Pustý žleb. Between the village and cave on Šošůvská propast ( Schoschuwka Abyss ), a large fraction is a lime kiln. From the limestone quarrying witness several old Kalkschächte.

On the western slope of the 613 m high Helišova skala, which offers a good view, is a large, partially filled with water break, which is used as a swimming pond. More dolines and sinkholes are in the vicinity of the village. In the center a tourist accommodation has been created.

History

Šošůvka was first mentioned in 1374. Since 1789, the city maintains its own seal.

Chapel

In 1942 the local council, remove the damaged by the weather bell tower of the city located in the chapel from 1731 decided. The bell was in 1943 held by the local volunteer fire department, there had to be suspended because of the war the new course. Twenty years later had at the state still has not changed and 1963 had to be completely demolished the chapel. 1973 began planning for the construction of a funeral home to the cemetery, but they were not realized. In 2000, the plan to build a chapel was taken at the cemetery. Sixty years after the loss of the bell the new chapel of St. Wenceslas and St. Agnes of Bohemia in 2003 could be inaugurated. In addition to the community, sponsors, and the inhabitants of the new building of modern chapel was especially due to the support of Dr. Josef Brousek, a 1948 in the near Toronto emigrated to Canada son of the place allows.
