Uttara Kannada (Lok Sabha constituency)

The Lok Sabha constituency - Uttara Kannada (until 2004: Lok Sabha constituency - Kanara ) is a constituency in elections to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament. It is located in the state of Karnataka and Uttara Kannada district covers the entire well as a smaller area in the southwest of the district of Belgaum.

Constituency history

The constituency was under the name Kanara Lok Sabha since the first election in 1951. Until 1956 it belonged to the State of Bombay, then to the State of Mysore, before it was renamed Karnataka in 1973. For Lok Sabha Election - 2009, the constituency was renamed in Uttara Kannada.
