Vrbka (Kroměříž District)

Vrbka ( German Wrbka, 1939-1945 pastures ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers south of Kroměříž and belongs to Okres Kroměříž.

Geography

Vrbka is located in the northeastern foothills of the Mars Mountains on the edge of the natural park Chřiby in the source dump of a small tributary to Trňák. North-east rises the Křiby (331 m ) in the east of Jámy (299 m) and south of the Kula ( 391 m).

Neighboring towns are Velké Těšany and Bařice in the north, Chlum and Karolín in the northeast, Sulimov in the east, Nová Dědina the southeast, Tabarky in the south, Lubná the southwest, Lhotka and Soběsuky in the west and Zlámanka, Trňák, Šelešovice and Drahlov in the northwest.

History

Archaeological finds evidence of a settlement on the territory of the municipality at the time of the Great Moravian Empire.

Vrbka built in the 14th century during the colonization of the forests on the northern edge of Mars Mountains. The first written mention of the village was 1408th In 1422 Vrbka was mentioned in a document of Emperor Sigismund of the pledge of the rule Buchlov as their accessories. Among the most important owners of the place were the noble families of Lamberg and Thun- Hohenstein.

After the abolition of patrimonial Wrbka formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Kroměříž. Residents of the village lived by agriculture. The school was built in 1883. Today's local name Vrbka is used since 1924. In 1961, the annexation to Sulimov. Between 1968 and 1975, responsible for Sulimov and Karolín cemetery in Vrbka was expanded and built a memorial hall. Since the school closed in 1978, the primary school students are taught in Sulimov. At the beginning of 1993, Vrbka broke again from Sulimov and formed its own community.
