Welcherath
Which Rath is a municipality in the district of volcanic Eifel region of Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kelberg.
Geography
The place is in the northwest of the nature park Eifel and partly in the nature reserve " Kelberg ". To the northwest is the district of Bränkekopf ( 622.5 m above sea level. NN ).
History
What advice was first mentioned under the name " Uuerikenroth " in a possibly forged document of the Trier archbishop Ruotbert from the year 943. At the request of a certain Ratherus the Archbishop consecrated the church to Welcherath and placed them as a branch of the church at night home. The Church Which Rath has become an independent parish before 1660.

By the end of the 18th century Welcherath country belonged to the Archbishopric of Cologne gorgeous (Official Nürburg ), church of the village belonged to the Archbishopric of Trier, however.
In the so-called French period Welcherath belonged from 1798 to 1814 for Canton Adenau in the Rhine -Moselle department. After the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the region was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Under the Prussian administration Which advice was assigned to the mayoralty Kelberg in 1816 the newly formed county Adenau in the Region of Koblenz, which was part of 1822 on the Rhine Province.
Administratively, permanent Welcherath always with Kelberg. The mayor Kelberg in 1927, as all mayors in the Rhine Province to "Official Kelberg " renamed after the dissolution of the circle Adenau in 1932 came Welcherath together with the Office for Kelberg Mayen, in which it remained until 1970.

The local council in Welcherath consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Coat of arms
The coat of arms description reads: "In silver two summary at hand people ( male and female) in red robes with gold trim and golden nimbus ".
The coat of arms dates back to a court seal from 1691 and represents the holy Martyrs couple Chrysanthus and Daria; they are the local cartridge of Welcherath. It was approved in 1951.
