Zádiel

Zádiel ( until 1927 slovak " Zadiel "; Hungarian Szádelő ) is a town in eastern Slovakia, with a population of 170 (as at 31 December 2011). Administratively it belongs to the Okres Košice - okolie, which is a part of the district Košice kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Slovak Karst, more precisely in the basin Turnianska kotlina, the creek Blatnica. North of the village is the Zádielska tiesňava ( German Gorge Zádiel ), a valley that was created as a breakthrough Blatnica by a plateau of the Slovak Karst and is in places up to 400 meters deep and 10 meters wide. Zádiel 32 kilometers from Rožňava and 41 km from Košice.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1317. He belonged to various local squires and since the 16th century to the manor of Castle Turňa. 1828 the village had 44 houses and 369 inhabitants.

Until 1919, the in- county Abaúj- Torna place belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia. 1938-45 he was on the basis of the First Vienna Award once again part of Hungary. From 1964 to 1990, there was a part of the community Zádielske Dvorníky with the neighboring towns and Dvorníky Včeláre that form after the dissolution of the community Dvorníky - Včeláre.
