1897–98 Swiss Serie A

The first Swiss football championship took place 1897/1898. The newspaper " La Suisse Sportive " was a sponsor of the competition. The championship was, however, not by the founded in 1895, Swiss Football Association ( SFA; since 1913 the Swiss Football Association SFV) organized and is therefore considered unofficially ( only four of the participating clubs were member of the Union FC Château de Lancy, Grasshopper Club Zurich, Neuchâtel FC and La Villa Ouchy ).

Mode

The Serie A was divided into three regional groups. The winner of each group qualified for the finals. Games that had no effect on the other championship course, were not discharged.

The gameplay Series B and Series C are not known, as secured applies, however, that the Grasshoppers in each league had a team, so in Serie B " Grasshoppers 2" and in the series C " Grasshoppers 3".
