1913–14 NHA season

The season 1913/14, was the fifth regular season of the National Hockey Association (NHA ). Masters were the Quebec Bulldogs.

Team changes

The following changes were made before the start of the season:

  • The Toronto Tecumseh changed their name to Toronto Ontario.

Mode

In the regular season, six teams each completed 20 games. The winners and runners run two playoff games against each other, the team became champion with the better goal difference from two games. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw one point and at a defeat.

Course of the season

The Canadiens de Montréal and the Toronto Blue Shirts lierferten from the beginning a head-to- head race for first place in the regular season, both teams finally reached 26 points. Then, it led for the first time by a playoff between the top two decision. While the Canadiens were able to provide with a 2-0 home win, but they lost to Toronto in the second leg clearly with 0:6, after which the Blueshirts the NHA championship reached for the first time.

Stanley Cup Challenge

In the playoffs for the Stanley Cup, the Toronto Blue Shirts were 3-0 victories prevail against the Victoria Aristocrats from the Pacific Coast Hockey Association and defend their title.
