1933 German football championship

The final phase of the twenty-sixth German Football Championship was already after the " takeover " by the Nazis instead. Of the cataclysmic changes and DC circuits and the football was not spared. Immediately after the Reichstag fire, the fighting community for Red Sport Unit ( " Rotsport ") was forcefully removed and arrested their leaders, only a short time later it hit the ATSB. Both associations could therefore not finish their championships.

Also, the German Football Association was affected by the changes. On April 28, 1933, the post of Reich Commissioner for gymnastics and sport was created and filled with the SA- member Hans von Tschammer and east. The hitherto existing German Reich Committee for Physical Education broke up "voluntarily " on. So that the Nazis had made a beginning, to bring the entire sports under their control; further steps should follow. The clubs had to give all a unit Statute in May. Key points were the introduction of the leadership principle and the exclusion of Jewish members.

Sporty this championship was the breakthrough for the West German football. So far, the West German clubs had only once made a finalist in 1913. This season there were equal a pure West German final, which was won by Fortuna Dusseldorf. The Fortuna, the final without conceding a goal completed ( Goal: 19:0 ), so celebrated her first and only German championship title. There were clear parallels with the previous year, because this year, the two final opponents had faced already in the regional championship finals and even there the losing in the final of the German Cup team had won the duel.
