1934 German football championship
In the 27th German Championship season 1933/34, the DC circuits were in German football by the National Socialists, who had already begun in the final stages of pre-season on. The seven existing traditional regional associations were dissolved. In their place came first, the Reichsführer ring of Physical Education, which was converted to the German Reich Federation for Physical Education in January 1934. The DLR included 15 specialized departments and offices, of which No. 2 supervised the German football. The German Football Association was not dissolved, but had virtually no function. Large opposition from the DFB officials did not exist there.
The competition format of the German Championship was radically transformed. With the dissolution of the Regional Associations Regional Championships were no longer discharged. In their place, for the first time a rich uniform league, which Gauliga. Germany was divided into 16 footballing Sportgaue in which a ten -team league einstaffelige was set up as a rule. Exceptions were initially the provinces of East Prussia and Pomerania, played in two seasons. This was an enormous concentration process in German football, because in the pre-season, there were more than 50 times mehrstaffelige highest leagues, alone 22 in the Central Region.
Also, the mode of the German championship final was changed. Although qualified were as far 16 teams, the champions of the respective Gauligen, but one took leave of the pure knockout system. The 16 teams first played in four preliminary round groups with return game. The four group winners reached the semi-finals and then played in the knockout system the German champions. There was no return games, but a unique encounter between the counterparty at a neutral site.
Also this year, the title went back to West Germany. One year after the runner-up won the FC Schalke 04 his first German championship title. In the finals they defeated the old master, the 1st FC Nuremberg, 2-1. For the Nuremberg it was already the seventh finals.
