1956–57 French Rugby Union Championship

The season 1956/57 was the 58th edition of the French rugby union championship. They included 56 teams in the top league ( of today's top 14).

The championship was divided into two phases. It began with the group phase in which eight teams played in six groups against each other. The top five in each group and the two best runners- sixth moved into the K - o.Runde. This was followed by sixteenth, eighth, quarter and semi-finals. In the final game, which was held in Lyon on 26 May 1957 at the Stade Gerland, clashed the two semi-final winners and played for the Bouclier de Brennus. Here, the FC Lourdes won against Racing Club de France and won their fifth title.
