1970 Argentine Primera División

The Primera División in 1970 was the 40th season of the Argentine Football League Primera División. This was divided into two semi-annual championships, each brought forth an Argentinian master. In the first half of the Torneo Metropolitano took place, the second half was played in the Torneo Nacional. This mode is maintained until the year 1985, before the play in Europe one adapted itself and no longer played in the calendar year, but from summer to summer.

Torneo Metropolitano

The Torneo Metropolitano was played with 21 participants who played once each against each other in league system. It began on March 20 and ended on July 27, 1970.

At the end of the Torneo Metropolitano to CA Independiente demonstrated that it was the seventh time in the club's history of Argentine football champion.

Torneo Nacional

The Torneo Nacional was the second semi-annual championship. It began on 4 September and ended on 23 December 1970. Initially, two groups were formed, the two best-placed teams met in two semi-final matches. From these semi-finals, the two finalists were determined. These were in 1970, the Boca Juniors and Rosario Central. The Boca Juniors could ultimately prevail in the final and repeat their title from last year.
