First in the 1975/76 season of the German Bundesliga and thus German master of men was Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Season overview

Gladbach were able to successfully defend their new coach Udo Lattek the title. They won the championship in front of the cup winners Hamburger SV and FC Bayern Munich, who in consequence won the European Champions Cup for the third time. In places four to seven, the first FC Cologne qualified, Eintracht Braunschweig, FC Schalke 04 and 1.FC Kaiserslautern ( as Vice Cup winner) for the UEFA Cup. Bayer 05 Uerdingen, Kickers Offenbach and Hannover 96 dismounted.

For HSV, it was the most successful season so far. In addition to the vice- championship they won the DFB Cup (2-0 against 1 FC Kaiserslautern) and reached the UEFA Cup semi-finals.
