1978–79 Albanian Superliga

Kategoria e Pare The 1978/79 (in a sense: First League ) was the 40th staging of the Albanian Football Championship and was hosted by the National Football Association Federata Shqiptare e Futbollit. The season began in September 1978 and ended on 27 May 1979.

Course of the season

The League has been increased for the new season again from twelve to 14 teams. 1977/78 KS Skënderbeu Korçë was relegated from the Kategoria e Pare, for the new season came KS Besa Kavaja, which returned to the first division after several years of abstinence, and KS Besëlidhja Lezha and KF Naftëtari Qyteti Stalin, both again after several years of abstinence returned to the highest league added.
