The Faroe Islands Football Championship 1992 was held in the first Deild said first Faroese league and overall was the 50th season. It started on April 20, 1992 and ended on 19 September 1992.

The climber B71 Sandur and SIF Sandavágur returned after one year back in the top flight. Master was B68 Toftir who could thus win the title for the third time. Defending KÍ Klaksvík landed on the second place. Descent had, however SIF Sandavágur after a NSÍ Runavík and after two years of excellence.

In comparison to the previous season, the strike rate improved to 3.09 per game, which meant the highest average since 1987. The highest victory achieved KÍ Klaksvík with a 6-0 at home to GÍ Gøta on the eleventh match day. The highest-scoring game completed HB Tórshavn and SIF Sandavágur with a 6-3 on Matchday.

Mode

In the first Deild each team to play 18 days played two games against each other. The point- best team in the season-ending stable as champions of this league, the last two teams were relegated to the 2nd Deild.

Course of the season

Cup decision

With two wins in the first two matchdays stand B71 Sandur at the top of the table, these playful but by four draws in a row. HB Tórshavn however, lost the first season game away at B68 Toftir 0-1, but could pass through three wins and a draw on Matchday at B71. Another win followed three draws, so that from the eight games B68 Toftir was at the top. On the tenth Gameday both teams clashed in a direct duel, which HB 4-2 decision for themselves and on goal difference again was number one. At the next game, the lead changed again as HB Tórshavn not a 1-1 draw in the away game against VB Vágur while B68 Toftir 4-1 won its home game against SIF Sandavágur. HB slipped into the next games from fourth place. B68, however, gave the championship lead until the end of the season that could occur from the remaining games none was lost. The decision for the championship was finally on the last day. B68 Toftir was able to defend his lead with a 4-2 at NSÍ Runavík, with the runner-up GÍ Gøta was successful in TB Tvøroyri with a 3-0. The decisive goals for B68 fell only after 83 and 85 minutes by Øssur Hansen and Jógvan Martin Olsen, a draw would have been enough but also, even with a narrow defeat the goal difference for B68 would have been decisive.

Relegation battle

NSÍ Runavík lost the first ten season games, the residue on the eight runners at this time was nine points. Although it was followed by a draw and with the 4:3 in the away game against HB Tórshavn on the twelfth round of the first victory, but the last position could no longer be left to the end of the season. National Cup

In the National Cup HB Tórshavn won 1-0 against KÍ Klaksvík. Master B68 Toftir retired in the quarterfinals with 0:5 against KÍ Klaksvík.

European Cup

1992/93, the first European campaign for Faroese clubs, KÍ Klaksvík played as a champion of last year in qualifying for the Champions League against Skonto Riga ( Latvia). The first leg was lost with 1:3, the return match ended 0:3.

B36 Tórshavn played as a trophy winner last year in qualifying for the European Cup Winners' Cup. The first leg at FC Avenir Beggen ( Luxembourg ) has been lost with 0:1, in the return game could with a 1-1 win the first point of a Faroese team be achieved.
