1992 500 km of Donington
The 500 - km race at Donington in 1992 took place on July 19 at the circuit of Donington Park and was the fourth championship round of the World Sportscar Championship this year.
The race
As with the three World Cup races beforehand, but also the race at Donington Park could come up with only a small starting field. The fastest in practice achieved Derek Warwick in the Peugeot Evo 1 However, the race was incredibly exciting and had one of the tightest finishes at the history of sports car racing. At the finish, the two Peugeots by Mauro Baldi / Philippe Alliot and Derek Warwick / Yannick Dalmas separated after 3 hours driving time only 0.5 seconds. Third-placed Toyota TS010 by Geoff Lees and David Brabham had at the end of the race, only 28 seconds behind the winner.
