2005 Women's World Open Squash Championship

The 21 Squash World Cup of women took place from 29 November to 4 December 2005 in Hong Kong instead. The world championship was the most lucrative tournament of the season, the ESC World Tour.

Defending champion Vanessa Atkinson was that reached the semi-finals this year. She was eliminated by Nicol David who defeated in the finals Rachael Grinham with 8:10 9:2, 9:6 and 9:7. It was the first world champion title for Nicol David and also the first for an Asian squash player.

The field consisted of 32 players, of which ten grid places for qualifiers. A wildcard was not awarded.

Prize money and world ranking points

When the squash World Cup Women 2005, the following ranking points were credited for each round is reached. Players who entered from qualifying into the main draw, the qualifying points were given in addition to those for the respective round is reached. Otherwise, the amounts are not cumulative. The total prize money amounted to 72,500 U.S. dollars.
