2007 ICC World Twenty20

The ICC World Twenty20 2007 was the first taking place in the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup tournament and ran from September 11 to 24, 2007 in South Africa.

The Indian team under their captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the tournament by a victory in the final against Pakistan. The Indian bowler Irfan Pathan was declared man of the match. The player of the tournament was the Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi.

The ten test cricket nations qualified automatically, additionally Kenya and Scotland, which had secured through their final placing in the ICC World Cricket League Division One in early 2007 to participate. The top two in each group qualified for the next round, the so-called Super 8

The meetings were held in three venues in South Africa:

  • Newlands Cricket Ground, Cape Town
  • Sahara Stadium Kingsmead, Durban
  • Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg
