2014 ICC World Twenty20

The ICC World Twenty20 2014 was the fifth World Cup Twenty20 Cricket men's and took place from 16 March to 6 April 2014 in Bangladesh instead. In the final, Sri Lanka was able to prevail with 6 wickets against India.

Participant

On 16 April 2012, the Executive Board of the International Cricket Council decided that from 2014 the World Twenty20 tournaments will be played with 16 teams instead of 12. This means that in addition to the ten Test nations six Affiliate-/Associate-Member the ICC will participate in the tournament. The qualification process is discharged as with the previous edition, in several stages and regions. The first tournament was held to Johannesburg in April 2012. The final qualifying tournament took place then in 2013 the United Arab Emirates take place. The test qualified nations are:

Format

The two poorly placed most Test nations and the qualifiers take first in two groups of four divided dieVorrunde from, in each everyone plays against everyone. The two group winners will qualify for the Super 10, where the remaining eight Test nations get into the tournament. There, playing the ten teams into two groups of five each against each. The respective two best group will then qualify for the semifinals, whose winners then deliver the final.
