2008 AFF Suzuki Cup

The seventh edition of the ASEAN Football Championship was held until December 28, 2008 of 5. Official name of the event was after the agreement between the ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki and AFF Suzuki Cup 2008. The group matches have been played in Thailand and Indonesia, while the semi-finals and the final were played in home and away matches. Eligible were all Southeast Asian football teams.
The winner received a winning prize of 100,000 U.S. dollars.
Qualification
For the tournament in Thailand and Indonesia, besides the two hosts and defending champions Singapore and Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam were automatically qualified.
The teams from Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, East Timor and the Philippines had to play in a qualifier against each other first. Here, these five teams played in a league format to the two still to be awarded places.
The qualifying tournament was held from October 17 to October 25, 2008 at the Olympic stadium in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh, in the end, Laos and the selection of the host could qualify for the finals.
Final tournament
It was played in each of two groups of four teams. The group winners and runners met in the semi-finals each other, the winner of the Halbfinalbegenungen then determined the winner of the ASEAN Cup 2008. Semi-finals and the finals were played in home and away matches.
Group A
The matches of group A were in Jakarta and Bandung, Indonesia, discharged.
Group B
The matches of Group B were held in Phuket, Thailand. Originally, the games should be held in Bangkok. However, due to the political unrest, the games were moved to Phuket.
Semifinal
The first legs were held on 20 and 21 December 2008 on 16 and 17 December 2008 the return games.
Final
The first leg took place on 24 December 2008 in Bangkok's Rajamangala Stadium, the second leg on 28 December 2008 at Mỹ Đình National Stadium, Hanoi instead.
