2009–10 Baltic League

The Baltic League 2009/10 was the fifth season of football competition for Baltic club teams and took place between September 22, 2009 and 4 July 2010. The winner was the FK Ventspils in Latvia, which could prevail in the final 5-3 on penalties against Sūduva Marijampolė from Lithuania.

Mode

On the Baltic League for the first time took part in the five top-ranked teams in the Estonian Meistriliiga, Latvian and Lithuanian A Lyga Virsliga. An additional space was given to the country from which came the defending champion, in this case, Lithuania. Contrary to the two Vorsaisons the tournament was played in a pure knockout system with return game. In Torgleichheit again chose the away goals rule, the final final was also again decided in a single game.

Participant

Due to the non-fulfillment of financial provisions in the licensing procedure took part not the five top-ranked teams in the Lithuanian league, only three teams were in the first instance the license for the major league. Last year's winner of the Baltic League and runner-up of the A Lyga, FBK Kaunas, as well as the sixth- place finisher of the A Lyga, Atlantas Klaipeda, retired due to differences with the Lithuanian Football Federation initially voluntarily from the first division back. Both teams were then demoted to the third tier. It was also the fifth-placed VMFD Zalgiris Vilnius denied a license and the team demoted to the second division. Thus took out of Lithuania in addition to the first-, third - and fourth-placed, which is regularly qualified, and the seventh -placed FC Šiauliai from the premier league and the first-and third-place finisher from the second division, Tauras Tauragė and Banga Gargždai part in the competition.

In Latvia, there was also a difference in the participants. Since after the season of fifth-placed FC Daugava Daugavpils with the fourth-placed FC Dinaburg merged, a place was free. This actually got to the sixth-placed FK Riga, but they had to file for bankruptcy so that FK Jurmala -VV nachrückte as seventh -placed.

Second round

The first legs in the second round were held between 22 September and 8 October 2009 and the return matches between 27 October and 10 November 2009.

Quarterfinals

The first legs in the quarter-finals were held on 6 and 7 April 2010, the return matches on 4 and 5 May 2010.

Semifinal

The first legs in the semi-finals were held on 26 May 2010, the return matches on 8 and 9 June 2010.
