2011 Tour de San Luis
The 5th Tour de San Luis was an Argentine cycling stage race, which took place from 17 to 23 January 2011. It was held in seven stages over a total distance of 1026.8 kilometers. The race was part of the UCI America Tour 2011 and classified there in the category 2.1.
Overall winner was the Chilean Marco Arriagada, which was, however, tested positive during the race on anabolic steroids and since then a doping process runs against the. He referred to the Colombian Professional José Serpa by the Italian team Androni Giocattoli and the Argentinian Enzo Moyano to the places.

Invitations were given three ProTeam, four Professional Continental teams, five Continental teams, including the German team Nutrixxion Savings Bank, and nine national teams of various South American countries, including Cuba. In the delegations of the ProTeam also launched a major European professionals like Ivan Basso and Xavier Tondo.
Stages and race course
After starting the tour in the provincial capital of San Luis and the expected bunch sprint, which the Italians Roberto Ferrari ( Androni Giocattoli ) decided for themselves, followed on the second day of a summit finish at Mirador del Portero, which drew up the first selection overall. From the four -man lead group out Ferrari teammate José Serpa secured the victory. On the fourth day, a not-too- long individual time trial in San Luis was discharged. The Movistar professional Xavier Tondo secured the victory and also the orange leader's jersey. Also on the following serious uphill finish Tondo has retained the leader's jersey as the seventh day after the successful outliers to the Argentine stage winner Leandro Messineo. The sixth stage made with two heavy climbs the queen stage of the race and was more than 190 kilometers, the longest of the tour. Due to a fall 15 kilometers before the finish had Tondo his overall lead here to the Chileans Marco Arriagada leave and lost all chance of victory. Arriagada crossed the finish line 1:29 minutes behind the winner Solo Colombian Miguel Angel Rubiano from the small Italian team D' Angelo & Antenucci - Nippo.
