2013 North American Soccer League season
The North American Soccer League in 2013 is the third North American Soccer League season. It starts on 6 April 2013, the opening day of the Spring Season and ends in November of 2013 with the final game for the championship.

Competition format
The format of the competition does not remain unchanged compared to the first two seasons. Beginning of September 2012 approved the NASL with a large majority of competition reform for the 2013 season. In the first two seasons a team in the regular season had ever even do a home and away game against each other team and the six best teams played in the play- offs the champion title. As of the 2013 season, two independent half-year competitions are held in a year: the Spring Season in the first half and the Fall Season in the second half. It must as before competing in the regular season, each team in a home and away game against the other teams. Meet The two masters of the two semi-annual competitions after the end of the Fall Season in a final match against each other, in which the masters of the season will be determined in 2013. The final match will take place at the stadium of the Master of the Spring Season. If one and the same team to win both six-month contests, so this occurs against the team that has accumulated the second- most total points throughout the year.
The third season should start in contrast to the previous season with nine teams. New member of the NASL should be New York Cosmos. However, beginning in December 2012 declared the franchise that the team will compete only in the Fall Season 2013. Almost three weeks later, also announced the club Puerto Rico Islanders FC, that this is only again participate in the Fall Season 2013 at the NASL and pause in the Spring Season 2013. The reason called the club the reorganization of the business. In February 2013 it was announced that the Islanders and the Fall Season 2013 pause and until 2014 to participate in the match operation. Thus, at the Spring Season 2013 only seven, at the Fall Season 2013, eight franchise participate.
