- Appius Claudius Caecus is consul in Rome.
- Victory of the Romans over the Samnites in the Second Samnitenkrieg at Allifae.
- The Hernici, traditional allies of Rome, close to the Samnites against Rome, after the Romans had captured some hernikische citizens.
- The Africa Campaign of Agathocles of Syracuse against Carthage fails; during Agathocles returned to Sicily in November, his army in Africa must capitulate to the Carthaginians.
Empire of Alexander the Great
- Demetrios Poliorketes lands with 250 ships in Piraeus, feeding in Athens, where he the tyrant Demetrius of Phalerum settles ( this flees to Egypt) and restores the Athenian democracy. Shortly afterwards conquered Demetrius Poliorketes Megara.
