69th Infantry Division (Wehrmacht)

The 69th Infantry Division was a military major unit of the Wehrmacht.

Division history

Areas of application:

  • Germany: September bis December 1939
  • Norway: April 1940-January 1942
  • Eastern front, northern sector: November 1942 to August 1944
  • East Prussia: from December 1944 to April 1945

The 69th ID was set on 26 August 1939 as a division of the second wave formation in Münster. During surgery Weserübung and the occupation of Norway, she took to the air in 1940 Landing in part on the airfield at Sola Stavanger. On the eastern front, the division fought in the composite of Army Group North in Leningrad and Newel. 1945, the division was destroyed by the river Inster in East Prussia, the survivors surrendered on April 10, 1945, when the Red Army conquered Königsberg.
