9.0: Live is the first live album by the American nu metal band Slipknot. The album was recorded at the world tour for the promotion of Vol 3: recorded between 2004 and 2005 ( The Subliminal Verses ).

The album was released on 1 November 2005 on Roadrunner Records and contains songs from Slipknot's first three albums, Slipknot, Iowa and Vol 3: ( The Subliminal Verses ).

Genesis

During the recording sessions in 2002 for their second DVD Disasterpieces the band members were inspired to a first live album, after they noticed that their live performances were very good especially when shooting. Two years later, Slipknot began a world tour to promote her then-current album Vol 3: (The Subliminal Verses ). This tour included 233 concerts in 34 countries within a period of 28 months. The song recordings of 9.0: Live were made at concerts in Singapore, Tokyo, Osaka, Las Vegas, Phoenix, New York City and Dallas. Colin Richardson mixed from the album.

In addition to songs from the first three albums Slipknot, Iowa and Vol 3: ( The Subliminal Verses ) contains 9.0: Live also the song Purity, which was removed from the band's debut album due to copyright infringement. Moreover, Slipknot played on 9.0: Live also songs which are rarely played such as Iowa and Get This, and the first live performance of the track Skin Ticket.

Promotion

Before the album's release a snippet of the live performance of the song " The Nameless " was provided on the Internet of Slipknot's record label for download. Later this song was released as a single only, which is why a music video for the single " with excerpts from the live performance of the band for promotion created.

On November 1, 2005, the date of the release of the album, Slipknot gave an autograph session at a branch of Best Buy in New York City. The album includes a 24-page booklet, are mapped to the mainly individual band members.
