The Auto Route 3, short A3, is an important part of the motorway network in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and runs in a north -south direction over a distance of 13.318 kilometers of Gasperich / Howald to Luxembourg- French border crossing Dudelange, where they in the French A31 Thionville passes. Access to the A3 offers three Aus-/Abfahrten and two motorway junctions and a rest area.

In Gasperich the B3 goes to the A3. At the Croix de Gasperich ( Gaspericher Cross) to cross the A1/A6. In the course follows the Aire de Berchem ( service station ) with Europe's largest gas station.

A little further south crossing the A3 at the Croix de Bettemburg the A13 ( collectrice du Sud / Liaision avec la Sarre ).

The highway was taken 1978-1981 in operation and is a substitute / relief for the National Road was conceived 3 (N3 ). Since the A3 is often used by travelers on their way to the shores of the Mediterranean, it is also often referred to as " Autoroute du Soleil".

In Luxembourg, the term " Diddelenger Autobunn " has prevailed, which is often used instead of the string " A3 " in the traffic reports.
