The Abu Dhabi (Arabic مطار أبو ظبي الدولي Matar Abu Zaby ad duwalī, DMG Matar Abu Zaby al - duwalī, English Abu Dhabi International Airport ) International Airport is the airport of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. It is located 26 kilometers southeast of the city. The airport is an important hub for Etihad Airways.

History

The airport was opened in 1982 as a replacement for the old city near the airport, which is now used only for military purposes. Was planned and realized the airport from J & P.

The commissioning of a second terminal is made in September 2005. In October 2008, a second parallel runway was two kilometers north of the first runway completed. In January 2009, a third terminal was opened, which is primarily used by Etihad Airways. The Abu Dhabi airport is served by many international airlines from German-speaking fly Air Berlin, Lufthansa and Etihad to Abu Dhabi. Etihad Airways maintains a hub in Abu Dhabi.
