Adolfo Mexiac

Adolfo Mexiac ( born August 7, 1927 in Coto de la Esperanza, Michoacán ) is a Mexican artist.

Biography

1944 to 1946 he studied painting at the Escuela Nacional de Artes de Morelia ( National School of the Arts of Morelia). This was followed from 1947 to 1951 to study at the Academia de San Carlos from the Escuela Nacional de Artes emerged Plásticas ( ENAP ) in Mexico City. Furthermore Mexiac studied at the Art Academy La Esmeralda and at the Escuela de Artes del Libro ( School of Arts ). His teachers were José Chávez Morado, Leopoldo Méndez and Pablo O'Higgins. From 1950 to 1960 Mexiac was in the Taller de Grafica Popular ( Workshop of the People graphic artist, TGP ). He also was a professor of graphic and drawing at the ENAP. From 1953 to 1954 he lived in Chiapas, where he prepared for the Instituto Nacional Indigenista ( National Population Institute, INI) drawings. In Chiapas also his first solo exhibition was held. Mexiac created drawings for various newspapers and textbooks. From 1958 to 1978 he participated in many biennials, including Yugoslavia, Chile, Cuba and Italy. 1957, 1958 and 1969 he won first prize in the graphics Salon of Mexico, in 1959 the first prize at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Vienna and in 1964 the first prize of the Casa de las Américas in Cuba. His most famous work is completed in 1981 mural in the Legislative Palace in Mexico City. It has a size of 35 × 6 meters and provides the constitutional history of Mexico dar. 1986-1987 created murals in the University of Colima. The works Mexiacs were presented in nearly 30 solo exhibitions worldwide. Mexiac is a member of the Academia de Artes since 1976. He lives in Mexico City and Cuernavaca.
