Afritz am See

Afritz (Slovenian: Zobrce ) is a municipality with 1443 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Villach-Land in Carinthia.

Geography

Geographical location

The municipality is located in the south of the Gegendtal Afritzer lake in the middle of the Nock Mountains. Neighboring municipalities are, from the north clockwise beginning: Feld am See, Arriach, meetings and Fresach.

History

The Gegendtal was first settled in the High Middle Ages, the sunny side of the valley was cleared until about 1300. The term area was 1308 Afritz 1450 first mentioned, the Church of St. Nicholas in Afritz in 1516.

The municipality was part of the county Ortenbourg and formed its own district court Afritz. At the time of the Napoleonic rule Gegendtal was annexed to the judicial district of Villach. Between 1973 and 1990 Afritz was part of the large village of Feld am See - Afritz. 1991 Afritz was again an independent municipality and leads since January 1, 2000 the name Afritz, though the eponymous Afritzer belongs to the neighboring community.

Population

According to the 2001 census, the municipality has 1519 inhabitants Afritz (2005: 1487 ), of which 96.6 % are Austrian nationals. 57.3 % profess the Protestant and 35.7 % to the Roman Catholic Church, 1.0% to Islam. 4.4% of the population are without religious confession.

Culture and sights

Structures

  • The Catholic parish church of St. Nicholas is a Gothic, later partly modified construction on the northwestern outskirts of the town. The first written record comes from the year 1512. The three-storey porch tower with a Baroque onion dome and lantern was completed in 1716.
  • The Evangelical Church ( Toleranzjubliäumskirche ) west of the parish church was built in 1980-81 and was ordained in 1981.
  • House Porcia in streets: The former nurse house was from 1662 to 1848 in the possession of the Counts of Porcia, the seat of the nurse the reign Afritz. The two-story Renaissance building with former to integrated cross- hallway on both floors and with Alpine roof stone laid for shear rafter roof with double-sided Schopfwalm has cantilevered, open gable walls with ornate balustrades transition. The facades were created around 1785, designed in the 19th century but new. The interior was changed greatly after 1956. Above the arched portal on the first floor a coupled central window, next to the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Prince Franz Seraphin of Porcia with inscription, designated in 1785. Law visible his wife Barbara, the coat of arms, Baroness von Jöchlingen. Furthermore, a mural Archangel Michael fighting Lucifer. In both basement and the ground floor ( with the exception of exchange at the south corner) there is a barrel vault with lunettes.

Regular events

  • The " Kugelwölg'n " is a custom which is in similar form in other Carinthian municipalities ( there as ball throwing, heeled or Kugelwalgn ) usual. In this, on Easter Monday held annually in Afritz game try two teams equipped, the " Krasl " ( a stick, standing on three legs, a kind of tripod ) to overturn a fist-sized ball. Each hit takes a point, the Krasl is placed at a different location, and each team plays at the point continued to the last, the ball landed. The start of an inn, then it goes across country to the next inn.

Economy and infrastructure

According to Census of 2001, there are 54 workplaces with 172 employees in the community as well as 474 commuters and 78 commuters. There are 68 agricultural and forestry holdings ( including 25 in the main acquisition ), which together manage 2,181 ha ( 1999). Economically dominant tourism is on Afritzer. The transport connection is via the Millstaetter Road ( B 98 ).

The local council of Afritz has 15 members and is composed as follows since the municipal elections in 2009 together:

Coat of arms

Afritz was 1960, the coat of arms of Prince Porcia, the long-standing judicial and landlords, has been awarded with an Aquarius as a sign holder, and joined with the merger with Feld am See 1973, initially out of use, but was a year later - without the shield holding Aquarius - The new constituted greater community field has been given by the lake.

The current coat of arms was awarded Afritzer the community in the wake of re- independence on 18 September 1992. Although it is still based on the sign of the Princes of Porcia, however, the number of lilies was reduced to five and these are arranged in two rows. Added to this was the heart of Lily Ornament as a local component, it is modeled on the Tauffries Afritzer parish church.
