Agglomeration community of the Grenoble Alpes Métropole

The Communauté d' agglomà Grenoble Alpes Métropole is a community association ( Communauté d' agglomà ) in the French department of Isère, in the Rhône -Alpes. It includes the agglomeration of Grenoble and extends between the three massifs Belle Donne, Chartreuse and Vercors. The Communauté d' agglomà colloquially known as La Métro is also part of the Y Grenoblois, which is named after the shape of the valleys of the rivers Isère and Drac, which flow together near Grenoble.

History

In 1973, the Syndicat Intercommunal d' Étude et de programmation pour l' Aménagement de la Région Grenobloise ( SIEPARG ) was founded. This was in 1994 in the Communauté de communes Grenoble Alpes Métropole and finally transformed into the present Communauté d' agglomà in 2000. On 1 January 2004, the four municipalities of the dissolved Communauté de communes du Pays de Vif joined the community association. In contrast, the community Bresson left in 2005 the Association of Local Authorities to join the Communauté de communes du Sud Grenoblois.

On 22 April 2011, plans by the Prefect of Isère, Éric Le Douaron known, after which the community association is to be converted into a Communauté urbaine. It should in addition to this community association, the Communauté de communes du Sud Grenoblois (except Laffrey ) and the Communauté de communes du Balcon Sud de la Chartreuse, and the municipalities Chamrousse, Miribel- Lanchâtre and Saint -Martin- d'Uriage rise. Since the population of the new community association but still necessary to form a Communauté urbaine population would so miss of 450,000 by 5000, would require an additional eight communities are a member of the new Urban Community.
