Air Bagan Myanmar is an airline based in Yangon. It operates scheduled flights by domestic and in neighboring countries. The aviation hubs are located at the Yangon International Airport and Mandalay at the airport. The company's name is reminiscent of the world-famous historic royal city of Bagan on the Irrawaddy.

History

Air Bagan was founded in June 2004 and started operations on 15 November 2004.

The airline is on the list of " Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons" of the Treasury of the United States. This means that Americans can not record any business relationship with Air Bagan, even through subsidiaries abroad.

Objectives

Air Bagan performs, mainly domestic regular flights. International only Chiang Mai and Bangkok (Thailand), Kunming (China ), Singapore and Siem Reap in Cambodia and Kuala Lumpur are operated in Malaysia.

Fleet

As of October 2013, the fleet of Air Bagan consists of four aircraft:

  • 1 ATR 72-200
  • 1 ATR 72-500

Accidents

  • On 19 February 2008, the crew of the ATR 72 XY - AIE broke after engine problems from the start in Putao, but did not arrive in time to stop. The machine rolled up an embankment and buckled by the fuselage. The aircraft was written off as irreparable, the inmates came up with a fright.
  • On 25 December 2012, the Air Bagan flight W9 -011 crashed during landing on top of the Heho airport. On board were 65 passengers, four crew members and two pilots. In the crash, a passenger and a moped rider who was killed by the crashing machine came to. There were 26 injured. After landing, the twenty -year-old Fokker 100, a fire broke out.
