Alan Moulder

Alan Moulder ( born June 11, 1959 in Boston, United Kingdom ) is a British sound engineer and music producer.

Career

Alan Moulder played guitar in his youth, but discovered that he was more interested in the technical side of music and began to take an interest in particular for studio technology. After an aborted training in the British Ministry of Agriculture, he worked as an assistant in the early '80s in the London Trident Studios. There he assisted, inter alia, Flood, who worked as a sound engineer in the production of a song from Jesus and Mary Chain. The band then signed him as a sound engineer for their live sound and for their album Automatic from the year 1989. The plate was a success and the label Creation Records signed him for productions for Ride and My Bloody Valentine.

Because of his work for Jesus and Mary Chain, the Smashing Pumpkins and Nine Inch Nails were aware of Moulder. So it was that in 1992 he worked at two of the most successful albums of alternative rock as a sound engineer: Siamese Dream and The Downward Spiral. This collaboration led to that he now came into existence as a producer. He produced the debut album of Marilyn Manson and 1995, along with Flood, the album Mellon Collie and the infinite Sadness Smashing Pumpkins. After further work on Moby and The Cure finally came in 1999, again with the Flood, a collaboration with U2 for their Joshua Tree album. With this work Moulder was established, followed by other productions for Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan and The Killers.
