The 2273 km long Aldan ( Yakut for " auriferous "; Russian Алдан ) is a right tributary of the Lena River in the Russian Republic of Sakha ( Yakutia).
It rises in the Stanowoigebirge in Russia west of the city Nerjungri. From there, it flows through the Aldanhochland in a northeasterly direction and comes in an ever -broadening valley, to gradually turn toward the east. About 150 kilometers north of Yakutsk, he runs into the middle reaches of the Lena. Its catchment area covers 729,000 km ².
