Alexander Lonquich

Lonquich Alexander ( born August 8, 1960 in Trier ) is a German pianist. In his generation, he is one of the most important interpreters of classical and contemporary piano literature.

Life and work

The son of German composer Heinz Martin Lonquich studied piano with Astrid Schmid- Neuhaus, Paul Badura- Skoda, Andrzej Jasinski and Ilona Deckers. At age 16, he won first prize at the Concorso Internazionale Pianistico Alessandro Casagrande International Piano Competition, which was founded in 1966 in Terni, Italy. He then began an intensive international career as a soloist and chamber musician and played under the baton of conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Heinz Holliger, Ton Koopman, Emmanuel Krivine, Mark Minkowski, Kurt Sanderling and Sándor Végh with orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Düsseldorf Symphony, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Luxembourg and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra.
